It's been awhile since we have blogged! We have been busy, busy, busy! For starters, we have a new singer, Ben, and we have been trying to integrate him smoothly into the band as quickly as possible, since we have some upcoming shows in November. So far he is proving to be a quick learner, and has even taught us a couple new songs that we will be performing at our next shows! If you have time, please feel free to drop him a "welcome" on dressdown's Facebook page!
Also, we have all been busy writing and learning new songs. Again, we have and trying to set up some out of town shows in bigger cities such as Chicago and Minneapolis. This has proven difficult to do alone, so we set up an "email blast" party last weekend and each of us picked a city and searched for good venues within it to contact. So far we have gotten a few responses back already, but there are many that have a "cap" of sorts, such as you must bring at least 50+ fans to support you. We'd love to do this, but feel we should wait until we have more out of town shows first in those cities, so we create a bigger following there as well as here. What are your thoughts? Would you go to a dressdown show in Chicago or Minneapolis?
Lastly, we want to let you all know about one of our upcoming shows in Milwaukee. It is at the Y Not 3 with Ikarus Down and The Ragadors. It is a promotional show, to support Orin Christianson, owner of supOfunk, who created our music video in only TWO days for a last minute contest, and has not only done our photo shoot but our CD artwork as well. We are very impressed with his work, and will continue to "hire" him in the future! The cover is only $5, and it's going to be a huge party, so bring your friends!
Until next time!

The Up and Under Show Review
On Thursday Sept 23rd we played at The Up and Under Pub in Milwaukee, WI. We played with the very talented bands Local and Anesthetic and No Sleep for the Bear. There were a lot of people there that night, more than we expected on a Thursday.
Local and Anesthetic was amazing. We hadn't heard of them before, and were pleasantly surprised when they started playing some really kick ass blues rock.
This was our second show with No Sleep for the Bear, and they really put on a fun, exciting show that got the crowd up and dancing. Check them out on Myspace, Twitter and Facebook!
All in all, we got a bunch of reviews from fans that our performance was better at this show than the Linneman's show AND the CD release show (our relentless practicing is paying off!). However, we didn't sell many CD's at this show, which was kind of a bummer, but we'll keep having them at our shows until we run out and print more! We think one we are low on CD's, we will look into getting some T-shirts printed as well. We'll keep you posted!

CD Release Show Review
Well, the CD release show has finally come and gone. We sold a crap ton of CD's, especially after our set, and close to 100 people showed up throughout the night!
However, we feel that the show should have started earlier, probably just a half hour earlier, at 9:30 instead of 10:00. People left about halfway through our set, and more left right after, meaning there weren't many people for the last band, The Taste Buds, which sucks because they were damn good. If you ever get a chance to see them again, do so.
J. Sik dominated the crowd as the opening act, a one-man band with a couple catchy acoustic songs and some really well thought out, well worded flows between acoustic songs. Also, The Shtetlblasters kicked some ass too with their amazing, danceable songs after J. Sik's performance. All in all, a great night with some extremely awesome bands. We hope to play with them all again soon!
And if anyone wasn't able to make the show, but still wants a CD, leave a comment below and we'll contact you about sending you one.

Linneman's Show on Sept 10th Review
Hi all! On Saturday Sept 10th dressdown played their biggest show (outside of a wedding reception in May) in Milwaukee, WI at Linneman's Tavern. There was roughly 85 people total that night, and not only did we have fun playing at that venue and seeing all of the fans come out to watch us play, but we also had fun meeting the other bands we played with, No Sleep for the Bear and Ikarus Down. It was an explosive set with the different bands performing throughout the night, and we hope to play more shows with them in the near future!
Next show: CD release show at The Frequency in Madison! Again, if you can't make it but still want a CD, just message us on Facebook or Reverbnation (you can find the links to those pages on our "Links" tab.
Hope to see you soon, dressdown fans!

Corners EP CD
OK fans, we have the master CD in our hands! Riley is now going to add some fade to the tracks, and Orin (supofunk.com) is finishing the final CD art, both of which should be done no later than tomorrow (Sunday). It has been a long, grueling process just to record this EP, but I have a feeling it is going to be WAY worth it. The songs sound so professional and are very well done, and I love throwing it in my car's CD player and blasting it. (The bass drum and the bass kick your ass when you do!)
Once we have the art in our hands, and once Riley finishes his work on the tracks, we then send it out to Sooper Dooper, a CD duplication business, and we will have the finished CDs (we are thinking of ordering 100 to start) no later than Sept 3rd, JUST in time for our Sept 4th show in Milwaukee!
After that, the plan is to send it to iTunes, Amazon, Napster and local CD stores to sell it, and to send it out to major labels as well!

Corners EP
Hi all! Just dropping a quick note to let you know that our EP is almost done! We go into the studio this week to review everything and finalize it, then it's off to the CD duplication process! We hope to have it ready for our shows in September. Leave feedback on our Facebook page to get a free CD!UPDATE*** 8/17/10: We are going into the studio tomorrow (Wednesday) to finalize everything on the cd and it will be in our hands that same night! So tonight, Derek and Jen are going into a CD duplication business in town to look at the different costs and options for the CD jacket. Hopefully we can get it done by our September shows!!!
Old Music Video
Hi loyal dressdown fans! We'd love for our old music video to reach 1,000 views to help out Orin, who filmed and edited it in less than a week. It was for a last minute music video contest, and we filmed relentlessly over a period of two days in Madison. Since we have filmed it, we have changed our singer, and the song a bit, but it is still fun to watch. It starts out with us playing, but a little after the vocals come in, things start to get funny. Check it out at the link below and comment on this blog post to let me know what you think!

Studio
Today will be our last day in the studio; we will be finishing the vocals for our E.P. "Corners". Then after the mixing/mastering process and c.d. replication, it should be done! Dustin @ Blast House studios has been doing a great job, and we are excited for the final outcome! We will most likely be filming another music video for either "No Fine Lady" or "Desperation" in mid-July. Orin from supofunk.com will be shooting the video, and this time we will spend more time on it, and give him more then 5 days to edit (unlike our previous video!). That is all.
